All you need is the xorg-x11-server 1.8 rpm files (you can get it from xorg
site).

1. Copy these filed on to device in one folder
2. Run coommand with root permissions:

# rpm -Uvh --allfiles --oldpackage --replacefiles --replacepkgs *.rpm

3. If it needs any dependencies to install this, it will display the list on
to terminal.
4. Install these packages first using 'yum install'
5. Run step 2 command.
6. You can verify your xorg version is changed using command

# Xorg -version

7. Now /etc/X11/xorg.conf will not be present.
8. Configure the same with your EMGD configurations, add mouse, keyboard
entries too.
9. Reboot the device.

I was successfully able to run EMGD using this method on Meego 1.1.

Thanks,
-Ninad.

Subject: Re: [MeeGo-dev] Downgrading to X1.8 in Meego 1.1

Hi Ash,

We used to do this with the old IEGD driver sometime ago on the Joggler.

See http://jogglerwiki.info/index.php?title=MeeGo. The first section
has a kickstart which downgrades the Xserver to the 1.6 version IEGD was
compatible with.

Stskeeps on #meego-arm is also working on his kichen Joggler at the
moment I think with a downgraded Xserver.

Also keep an eye on these two meego bugs. They are related to and EMGD
Update driver which supports the new xserver version.

Can you share any details or your tablet?

If so, any tips on how we could do this?
