Is there any Command to rotate the screen manually?
Or any other why to get the screen rotated during developement on a real
Hardware device?

I think this is the right way for the Virtual PC SDK,
but I'am Developing on a real Hardware Device (Gumstix Overo) without
Keyboard.
So I hope that there will be a trick to do screen rotation without
Keyboard, too.

xrandr is your friend - just run `xrandr -o left` or similar.

not just showing the rotated screen, but also showing the
rotation animation. There's no way to do that with the rotation being done
outside of the application.
Any Idea telling the Home-screen-application to rotate?

I can report the same issue on Gumstix Overo with Chestnut43 Board.
The UI is running on a 4,3 LCD with 480x272 resolution.
Running a daily Meego Build from last week. (Meego 1.1 and
GFX_4_00_00_01_libs.tar.gz)
The driver which is used is: mesa-dri-swrast-driver.
