Hi, Thanks for the reply, the failure seems to occur in the h5test. I've run a couple of simulations on a known working Linux version and the Mac version. The output from h5topng is different for the same ctl file. I've attached the output from the OS X version and as you can see there

Hello. I would like to point out to a typo of great significance: the right name for the mentioned SWIG interface function is: meep-fields-phase-in-material and not: meep-field-phase-in-material (fields with an 's' in the end). (It is expected if one knows that the class's type name is fields
