Once upon a time I had prepared packages of meep for ubuntu at Launchpad.
Most probably, they can be with a very small effort installed on a Debian.
If not, you can just fetch deb src from that repository, and rebuild it for
you system with e.g. pbuilder or prevu.

We had the same problem. Yes, it appears that the precompiled binaries were
built *without* the HDF5 library which, for my purposes, makes Meep
effectively useless.
I wound up having to manually install about 10 different packages, resolve

I've tried you function and it works.
Have you tried to specify the dataset (real part) when converting to png:
h5topng -z 0 -d e2.r myfile.h5
Because if you don't specify it what you get is a black picture.

I have tried to run the file "periodic-sphere-plate.ctl" which appears in the
Casimir tutorial. However it resulted in the following error message:

My Debian is : debian-testing-i386-xfce+lxde-CD-1.iso 15-Nov-2010. My
meep Debian package is meep1.1.1-4+b1 installed via Synaptic.

Hi everybody,
I posted this question some time ago, but the issue has become a bit more
urgent since I'm now constantly running out of memory when I try to calculate
|E|^2 from the individual components in Matlab.
Can anybody help me out (using denergy is no option for me)?
