[Meep-discuss] libctl 3.2 is required, while the wiki mentions 3.0

I have been able to compile Meep 1.2.1 from the tarball on a 64 bit Debian 8 (Testing) system, with gcc 4.7.2-5. Following the instructions at: http://ab-initio.mit.edu/wiki/index.php/Meep_Installation I used Synaptic to install a bunch of packages which I thought would be needed, including (t

Hello, I am new to Meep and I am facing problems when I use the material type perfect-metal. Whenever I try to simulate anything using perfect-metal material type or metal (the defined variable) the output .png files are just black blocks. It is as if the values are saturated. Can you please exp

Dear Jim, this seems to be a result of instability, resulting in saturated (i.e. infinite or NaN) values as you suggest. To verify this, you may shorten the simulation until you get some image that is not plain black. As a matter of fact, the instability does not occur instantly, but it takes it se

Hi Filip, Our cluster is down at the moment, so I can't make a run to save the field at the end. I have used HDFview to look at the incident flux file that was saved, metal-incident-flux.h5 (I can't recall which df value this corresponds to). I do not know exactly what this file contains, but
