Friends and Colleagues,

ICANN Learn, the ICANN Online Learning Platform (OLP), has a course entitled
“Registrant Basics: Essentials for Domain Name Holders” that you might find
interesting.

The course aims to educate both actual domain name holders (registrants) and
the broader end-user community about the rights and responsibilities of
registrants. This includes the role a registrant has in the domain name
ecosystem, and the ICANN policies that affect them. Many domain name holders do
not even realize that they are defined as ‘registrants’ per ICANN’s contractual
terminology, and are often confused about what domain names are, what ICANN’s
role is, and what are the policies that individuals must follow when they
either register or manage a domain name. In addition to covering the basics
about being a registrant and the fundamentals of domain name management, this
course will also introduce more advanced content, such as how to protect domain
names from being stolen or “hijacked.”

The course needs 60-90 minutes for completion, and is an excellent course for
those interested in learning the rights and responsibilities of a domain name
registrant.
