Hans is right. Rear seat is definitely MBtex. The fronts do not
look like MBtex.

The 26-year-old tex in my 124 is in better condition that the 22-years-old
leather in my 126. The leather's not in BAD condition, though - just not as
good as the tex.

I have had MBs with Tex, leather and cloth. I would rate them from good to bad
in that order. MBTex is pretty much bulletproof and easy to recover if
damaged. Leather, no matter how well it's cared for, does not age well. I
have seen many a really nice exterior with leather than is crap.
Ditto - they are great!

Yes but MB person or not it's pretty obvious that it's not leather. If they
would open their eyes or just feel it they should know. These are people that
are clueless and lack any sensitivities.

Last seen by a dealers authorized mechanic on the day it was sold. Paint
given special care daily. Always parked in the shade under a tree. Only
driven at night in pursuit of business. Slight tear in seat from normal
sidearm wear. Extra storage built into upholstery for money and

On my 201 there are two tabs joined by a plate across the inner side, for side

As I understand it, the 201 and 124 share a lot of suspension parts.

There was a cheap diesel on CL here in Charleston, you could probably
get one cheap and part out some other bits or just junk it for scrap if
you just wanted the engine. I would check CL for cars like that, you
could put your TD head on the engine and be good with the susp pump.

Good suggestion, Rich. Locating a complete car that has a decent donor engine
will probably cost not a whole lot more than the engine itself, and you'll have
all those spares you can strip off the donor car, too.
