Not sure what you mean buy "barrel", but on every pump I've done, I remove the splined DV holder (which has the o-ring), the copper seal (replace), the spring (replace), and usually the part immediately below the spring, because it likes to come out with the spring. Never had any problems with

You won't have any trouble so long as you don't do anything but remove the splined holder and replace the o-ring and copper seal. Leave everything else alone, making sure you put the spring where it belongs if it sticks in the holder and comes out. NEVER move the barrel, there is no reason

The W124 driveshaft is marked for indexing. Only way it could be off is if someone didn't match up the marks. You should be able to see the marks matched from underneath the car. Maybe you should roll under there and get some 'proof'? They're cast into the two metal pieces that join. -- Jim

I used Diesel Purge to lube the o-rings. I left the spring on the DVs in the pump - no problems. Do them one at a time, then you have no issues with keeping them straight and going back in the right holes. Yes, once you pull the intake filter box, you'll have plenty of room in the 201 to do the jo

Very different freq. driveshaft freq. is 3-4 times faster than the tire thump freq. Difference in mass too. Tire is much more rotational mass. Driveshaft out of phase is very annoying. They have a lot of tries to get it right, or send it out to the one place that can fix it (atlanta?) or

Curt. The delivery valve holders ( the serrated vertical tube under the injector line nut at the IP ) are simple to remove with the correct socket, see Dimitri. FIRST clean the top of the IP to white glove inspection state, then remove the injector lines. Remove the locking plates. Clean again.

So he got the barrel out and put it back in wrong. Very simple there are little pins that stick into the bore to hold them in the correct orientation. If you put the barrel back in wrong with the slot not lined up with the pin it will push the pin in. You then have to open the side cover and pus
