So I arrived at the unit and pulled the cover. I get 240 volts on one side of the contactor but not the other. My assumption is that means the contactor is bad. So I pulled it along with the 2 capacitors and head down to the hvac supply place. He tested the capacitors and one was for sure bad an

With a simple AC unit, the only thing the 24v from the indoor unit should power is the contactor. The contactor supplies 240v to the compressor, fan, and associated start/run capacitors. Maybe your contactor (actually a relay) had a fried coil? Mitch. ___
