I really like the MB wheel grease tubes, really easy to precisely dispense a
small amount of grease. Also the green grease is easy to see in contrast to

Indeed - I always used good grease from NAPA. It's true that you won't go
wrong using the MB wheel grease, but others are good also.

Yeah. It has side posts. I gave up using them many years ago.
Threads strip, terminal pull out, terminals fall out - and I guess
terminals melt.

That's on my list of things to do. I presume it is failing as there are
some other intermittent behaviors that suggest wonky electrics. I have
been doing a bit of research on remaking the harnesses, seems to be not
difficult, but fiddly. Various folks have remade them with success. I

Perfect place for an IR thermometer. Shoot the head and such,
correlate to your gauge. If the gauge moves faster than the
thermal mass of the system could accommodate, then the
gauge (sender, actually) is at fault.
