My '84 190D had the front wheels torqued so tightly that they warped. I ended
up taking it to a guy who had a 1" drive impact wrench normally used for big
trucks. We had to use a couple adapters to get back down to the right size and
were worried the adapters were going to break. Still got 'em o

It’s been hit/hit something on the LF. The bumper cover is hanging low. No idea
what the “wheel locking” is unless the power steering needs fluid. Given the
general state of dirtiness the son probably has not paid any attention to it
and has little concern for it given the hit.

If you are going to make a habit of dismantling cars, you need to get a
good impact wrench.

Hood and bumper panel gaps don't look right on the driver's side.
Wonder what "wheel locking" means.

Hence, the security hoops we "honest" folks must jump through to verify

Not true, this is a random dealer “policy” that is not supported by MBUSA.
I rarely, if ever, bring the car in that I am ordering a key for. Now in
fairness, my dealer wants you to bring the car in to verify the key works
before it leaves the dealership, but they never bother me with this.

There should be an better way to prove ownership. Having the car physically
present seems not so difficult, there are any number of towing companies who
could be pursuaded to tow a random car to a dealership.
Having a title and matching state-issued ID and registration paperwork seems

And the catch 22 is that the dealer will not order a key unless the car is
present at the dealership so they can confirm the VIN in person. So add
towing to the cost of that key...
