Yup Worn brushes will do that. replace regulator. unplug the ground cable and take out 2 screws. Put new regulator/brushes in. I have used a paper band to hold in the new brushes while you stick the set in and start the screws. than break the paper band and pull it out. Tighten screws. ho

Get to somewhere and have the starter draw checked. They do go bad, after all. Load test the battery too, and check battery voltage under load (starting). If the voltage goes through the floor when you try to start and the battery is good, the starter is shot. Peter _
