can imagine it involved twisting the mirror to get more swinging room

We tried lubricating with the old standby - saliva, but that didn't help.
The press/vise idea sounds best so far, perhaps also with heat and a
lubruicant.
Yes- the SIL is capable of feats unknown to mankind. He wasn't raised with
any exposure to working with his hands or mechanics, but really want

and can't get it back on the ball.
They're not supposed to come apart there. Oops.
