More likely the clutch MC or slave is bad. That looks like a pretty good deal
to me!

Yes, that's true, especially in a wet climate like Portland.
Also used to be common to find gear lube in the trans, resulting in
grinding gears in cold weather.
Could be a bad master/slave...or low fluid. Could also be seized
throwout bearing past the clutch fingers. Had that happen on my
first Diesel.

In the one I took apart, the synchros were worn and several bearings
were burned. Don't know it it was from running with no oil or from
the gear lube.
