I don't really understand the question, but codes are specified by
Mercedes Benz. You can get codes from the MB dealer (by VIN number)
or directly from Becker at 201-961-1300. Becker will charge you
something, but provides you with a proper code card for your records.

That is US pesos, however that is not a standard distributor used on
millions of engines. It sits right at the back of the head behind the
intake manifold and sticks out at a right angle to the motor, hence the
weird position of the connectors.
Given it's rarity I figured I would have to pay a b

Are those prices in US or AU dollars?
Or is there much of a difference these days?
$26 for a four banger seems quite high to me, but it beats
paying three digits.

I think we are talking about apples vs oranges here. Prior to 87 or
so, the radios had to be reset with a special card tool from the
dealer and some would charge for that as it did take some shop time to
accomplish.
After that, radios can be programmed by the owner following the info

That is probably a simple, quick easy test for Stealerships. If they
try to charge you, run awayy screaming, and make sure all the
customers in the building and lot know what they just tried. Keep

i dont know, I copied this to a becker employee. Jamie, whats the deal

the codes the property of becker or what?

If you don't have a existing relationship with the local stealership
then it may be hard but you can always try the old "I'm planning on
spending mega bucks in your establishment, so be nice to me" rout
Didn't know such a thing existed =-O
Usually your best bet is to go to the place where the car was sold
and/or serviced and they should have the code in their system.
I recently bought a, what you know as, Izuzu pickup. No radio code with
it, so I went to the local Holden dealer (Izuzus are sold
I agree. My comment was just a warning to others that SOME
unscrupulous dealers are trying to charge for a service that should be
free. If they do, go elsewhere.

I just changed the battery in my w124 coupe and I am getting a code prompt on
the radio display. I do not have the original manual or paperwork so I am
lost. How do I find the code to unlock the radio? The silence is driving me
crazy.
Thanks in advance,
