A lot of MB service tools are made by specialist tool manufacturers like
Hazet or Stahlwille, making something like this is quite tricky due to
the allen bolt to hold the hex bit in place.

I performed a hexectomy on a hex bit socket and stuck the cut off
stub in a 14mm box end. Then I put a 1 1/4" box end over the
handle of the 14mm wrench for extra leverage.

Put cut off stub from allen socket in fill plug, stuck box wrench
on it, put 1 1/4" box wrench on the handle of the 14mm and pushed.

What about those small bottles of ATF that come with their own little
hose attached, perhaps put on a little bit more hose and then squeeze.
That's what I use, you can't get the bottle fully emptied this way but
it is better than a syringe.

I second that! As soon as I started using the wife's
former ride, I did a complete fluid change to Mobil1
products.
The car had an increase in mileage of about 2 mpg
after that... money well spent these days.

Sometimes previous owners have used bad methods (like you are thinking)
