Rhonald, I live in D.C. so a visit would be cost effective in the sense of

I'm a little foggy - what's the "box" you are referring to?
The door has an outside and an inside surface, along with a
bottom. Makes kind of a box, in which the window mechanism
lives, for example. It has drains, water coming in past the
glass is inevitable. Make sure your door seal is intac

I still can't figure out why a gush of water is released when I open a door
(a rear and a front door in two different W123 wagons) after a rainstorm.
Why is it ponding and where? The insides of both cars seem to stay dry -
for now...

All will leak down the front door pillar, through the firewall, or
behind the dash and rear cover, respectively, with the water ending
