A friend of mine laser engraves wood for pistol grips he sells at gun shows.
More recently he takes ammo cans, coats them with some magic stuff and then
burns it back off with the laser. He gave me a couple with the Maine state seal
on them, pretty cool stuff.

Need a fairly high-powered laser to do that. My 60W might do it with a
special coating that absorbs the laser energy. Something called Cermark
is supposedly the best, but others say molybdenum sulfide dry lubricant
works too. I had some and tried it on some aluminum soda can stock, it
