Turns out the 400E and 500E share the same frame mods that were done by Porsche to fit the M119 but the 500 got the wider body mods and the more powerful version of the engine. MB then built the 400 in their factory after painting the white body but Porsche had to build the 500 back at theirs because it wouldn’t fit on the Benz line. Very interesting cars.
