I had one car (hyundai excel) which had the first cat mounted to the bottom of the manifold. It was secured by 5-6 bolts about the circumference which went through the top of the manifold. You couldn't buy a cat, but you could buy the manifold (which always had the cat bolted to it). You'd

It is illegal for the salvage yard to sell you a cat for reuse. However they can sell you a cat for recycling purposes. They must cut off both flanges and can not identify it as for a specific car. If the yard is at all cooperative you could pull one off a car and they could cut off the
