One of my former business partners who is a survivalist was totally enamored of
wood gas for propulsion. Look it up.
Goofiest thing I’ve ever heard of - so far.

They never mention the amount of effort it would take to do that well.
It is like the folks who advocate burning wood for heat. If you have to
buy the wood, you won't save anything, and if you have your own woodlot,
you will have to put out a lot of effort.
