Try to remove it without cutting it. Take it to a place that rebuilds hydraulic
hoses.

However, having read some of the other posts, I am thinking that the
cooler hoses are the likely culprit and waiting to hear if it is true.
Randy, I would be surprised if a bottom filter like that could coat the engine
bay. Top side oil filter would have made a very obvious mess. Forgetting to
put the oil cap on the valve cover really makes a huge mess of things and will
cause long term oil seeping unless fully washed. Oil cooler
