[MBZ] Aux. fan in 1985 300CD - where's the fuse?

2005-06-27 Thread andrew strasfogel
My mechanic said that the most likely reason for failure of the aux. cooling fan in our 1985 300CD is a blown fuse. The fan blade spins freely so the motor isn't seized. He says the fuse is located separate from the fuse box but didn't tell me where. Can someone help, or is he incorrect?

Isn't there a thermal switch somewhere too that turns it on/off? I don't know where the fuse would be but seems like if you follow the power wire you should find it. --R andrew strasfogel wrote: My mechanic said that the most likely reason for failure of the aux. cooling fan in our 1985

There are LOTS of reasons for the aux fan not running besides a bad fuse. Open windings occasionally occur. Brushes DO wear out. The fan should only be on when refrigerant high side temperatures exceed about 65 deg C (that occurs when refrigerant pressure gets above about 275 psi) so it cycles
