There is a kit that Mercedes sells with a strip fuse and the related wires to relocate that fuse out of the fuse box for just the reason you’re experiencing. The 16 amp fuses weren’t adequate, so they went to a strip fuse that was 30A, I believe. The kit was around $25 from the dealer. I had on
