Subject: [MBZ] Chain tensioner spring
When replacing the spring on a chain tensioner on an '83 300D, I see a plate

Yes, the spring is directly behind the hex plug.? It is fairly stiff and
will require a good push to restart the plug with the new spring.? Of the
several used springs I have seen, all had a heavy wear spot on one of the
coils where it was rubbing in the barrel.
When replacing the spring on a chain tensioner on an '83 300D, I see a plate
and a big hex headed plug of some sort. Can you replace the chain tensioner
spring by removing the hex headed plug or do you have to remove the plate?
Couldn't find anything about replacing the chain on the CD.
