You could be right. I just looked at it and from what I can see up in the fan
the evaporator coils are completely iced over. It has a mechanical time clock
defrost timer. I just advanced it to a defrost cycle and the compressor kicked
off. I will see if it completes a defrost cycle and/or if the
It should go through a defrost cycle periodically. Perhaps the heating element
for that is bad, or a relay or timer... ?

Anyone know anything about commercial freezers? Wife has a true at the bakery
that the compressor is a big old heavy duty thing built like a 240D. When we
had it at the house it seemed to run non stop. Long story short the thermostat
was bad. Replaced that and it seemed to work for a while but t
This was one built in 99 and it’s pretty simple.

I have to admit I'm a bit surprised. I haven't worked with any restaurant
equipment since the late 1980s but what I remember of it is that it was *not*
sophisticated. Reliability was paramount; no restaurant would be happy about
losing a freezer full of food. Therefore things were simple and ove
Let it run for a while and both fans are running. The only thing I can think of
as to why the one fan was not running is if you are not careful the wiring in
the area can drop down and get caught in the fan. Maybe that is what happened.
Working on putting the cover back on which is a bear.

I have the freezer running now and the fans reinstalled. That temp switch it
mounted right on the evaporator so I am assuming once it cools down enough then
fans will kick on. We shall see.

As a ladder diagram guy like Jim, I’m in total agreement that both fans have to
run at the same time or there is a wiring or connection issue, no question
about it.

Yea, I do not take any credit for their schematic. Since the fans are
wired together I am not really sure why one would run but the other
would not yet both powered up fine with power applied directly. I am
going to reinstall the fans and let the unit run for a while. I am
assuming the evapor
Not impressed with your schematic. The relay (? defrost timer?) is drawn in a
somewhat non-standard,
and certainly confusing manner. Also, the skinny terminal on the compressor
outlet
is supposed to be the 'hot' side, usually black (versus white).

The new thermostat and evaporator fan arrived and I replaced the
thermostat. Compressor kicks on fine. Before all this is had one of
the 2 evaporator fans not running. I ordered a replacement but when the
unit kicked on, neither one of them were running. They should run when

Some of these have a delay so that they don't start immediately. E.g. if there
is a power failure, often the power will come back on for a few seconds, then
off, repeat, as it is being restored.
Have you tried plugging it in and waiting at least 10 min or so?

It’s possible but there appears to be no power at all. I need to get my meter
out and do some probing. Not even the interior light comes on.

In fact, I suspect it has been sub-par for some time which is why it was
"running continuously".

The wife has a large 2 door commercial freezer in the garage that she

ton of electricity. Anyway, a few weeks ago we were going to be out of
town for a week and it was empty, so I unplugged it so it would not be
running. Be
