I'm debating what to put in the ASV for next winter. Its down to M1 5w40 or
Rotella T6 in 5w40. The only reason I'm considering Rotella is cost. If the
machine gets 40 hours on it for the season I'd be surprised. I want the thinner
oil for easier starting...

Yes when I first put M1 in my 79 240D it would pop right off on a triple
glow,at 10F. Not surprised at these results. Used to use the 5w-40.

I watched a yooo tooob video a few months back where the testing fellow had
four liters of oil he had tossed in the deep freeze for 24 hours. They were
M1, Royal Purple, the dead sam gunk and another FLAPS oil which escapes me.
