Upon thinking about it, it seems that the only benefit of a sniping
service is that a person would not have to man his or her computer at the
end of the auction, no? But if the person was willing to be at the ready at
the computer at auction's end, he could simply enter his maximum bid at his
time of choice, whether it be at 30 seconds or 10 seconds, or whatever.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.


This brings up another point: We were looking at our bidding history, and it
looked like on the last acution we bid on (yes, for a 190D manual tranny
car) ebay only recognized three of our bids, and these fell within some five
minutes of the end of auction. But in fact, we placed several more bids than
that, all the way up until about 2 seconds or less.

I wonder why the bids did not seem to go through? Could it actually take
five minutes for our bids to register? This would be a very important bit of
information for us to know!
