Upon thinking about it, it seems that the only benefit of a sniping service is that a person would not have to man his or her computer at the end of the auction, no? But if the person was willing to be at the ready at the computer at auction's end, he could simply enter his maximum bid at his time of choice, whether it be at 30 seconds or 10 seconds, or whatever. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
This brings up another point: We were looking at our bidding history, and it looked like on the last acution we bid on (yes, for a 190D manual tranny car) ebay only recognized three of our bids, and these fell within some five minutes of the end of auction. But in fact, we placed several more bids than that, all the way up until about 2 seconds or less. I wonder why the bids did not seem to go through? Could it actually take five minutes for our bids to register? This would be a very important bit of information for us to know! Brian
