Any driveline issues should be felt throughout the car if felt through the
steering wheel. If your shift bushings are snug, you should be able to feel them
better through the shifter than through the steering.

If your wheels are out of balance or out of round, it could explain the steering
vibration and the rear wheel shake.
You could always try switching wheels between the car that vibrates and the one
that doesn't.
