Yes he flew it yesterday morning early before the winds picked up.  It's not waterproof, so that aspect is a bit concerning, esp if launching from a boat or it crashes in the water.  I told him to zip tie some plastic bottles to it to give some flotation. $1500 is not cheap, but it is worth

The limiting factor will be wind, especially at sea, so hopefully he knows the limits of the machine and keeps "a weather-eye aloft". Probably would be a good idea to develop plans for recovery of the drone in high winds, like (1) recognize when winds exceed ability of the drone, and (2) ID a

Most ATIS and AWOS stations have phone numbers you can call to hear the reports - I find them at https://www.airnav.com/ in the Airport Communications section like this: CTAF/UNICOM: 122.8 WX ASOS: 133.975 (405-282-0478)It can be tricky to find the airport name nearest you without a chart though
