My brother has decided to be fiscally conservative (unlike the example
I'm setting for him), and has decided he doesn't need two cars. So the
2.5T is officially for sale.

I want $5k, and it needs new tires. The center drag link for the
steering went bad, and the front tires went nearly bald (nearly to the
wear markers) before I had the chance to fix it. Then I had a flat tire
that cut a sidewall... So if you were to make a cross country trip you
wouldn't have a spare tire. I'll gladly put on a set of tires of your
choice for cost if you would like. Although I'm not 100% sure if there
needs to be an alignment after the drag-link replacement. I doubt it
since there isn't any adjustment on it, but you never know.

Since I bought it at 292k...

--New windshield, rust repair, repainted roof and c pillars ($1200)
--Euro headlights from Katmac Imports (not Bosch, but still good)
--Rebuilt injectors at local Bosch shop
--New glowplugs

I have been using Mobil 1 5w-40 Turbo Diesel Truck. Same as the Delvac1
synthetic the truckers use. I've changed it ~3 times in the 10k miles
I've owned it. I have records (of when I changed it, not oil purchase
receipts).

There is one spot of rust bubbling up underneath the paint in the center
of the passenger door. That is the only body rust I know of. The car
did come from Ohio, and a lot of fasteners, etc have rust on them. I
believe the body to be straight though. The trunk lid has a few
scratches on it.

The interior is in very good shape. The carpets are a little
worn/sunwashed, but Rusty sells OE floormat sets for $100. The drivers
seat has a little wear on it, there are two small tears shown in the
pictures. All the other seats are in great shape. The worst thing
about the interior is the little sliding wood lid for the center console
compartment. The latch part at the end has become disconnected from the
wood that rolls. I have it taken apart and it should be an easy fix
with a little glue.

Mechanical work it needs: The brakes are *mildly* warped and there is a
lip on the rim of the front rotors. There is a lifter tick. Possibly
needs alignment. The transmission shifts a little rough for my liking
under moderate throttle (just fine at light throttle). The idle isn't
perfectly smooth (smoothest of all the diesels I've ridden in minus my
CDI).

I am the 4th owner, Sunil was the 3rd, the 2nd owner owned the car from
200k to 286k. The second owner never sent Sunil his records, so there
are no receipts but he told Sunil that a lot of work was done. I have
all the records from the first owner.

The second owner supposedly replaced the head gasket, tranny, and
suspension. The lifter tick makes me wonder about the headwork, but it
is possible for it to have failed after it was done. 10k miles of
synthetic haven't cleared it up...

Overall it is a very nice 16 year old car. It needs a few little things
to get it in perfect shape, but I don't need four Mercedes, especially
with one of them being a CDI. Up till I bought the CDI I was planning
on taking this car to Phoenix, and the car easily made the trip up to
the IowaQ.

Let me know if you guys are interested...

I will gladly meet anyone at the Jackson airport.

John
