I find it interesting that the jeep conversion guys stopped looking at VW with
the 1.6 IDI engines which were pretty low powered. My Jetta TDI 1.9l is US
standard at 90hp/155lbft de-rated from the Euro 110hp/188lbft. With injectors
and a bigger turbo you can pretty easily make 150hp/230lbft in a
then there are the stupid timing belts to break. I'll take an OM6xxx
any day.

Truck collector guy in the village here had a mj2 WWII jeep with an om616
