I have done many, and used both methods. It is a fielder's choice.
Mostly it is a choice of if you have a manifold gasket on hand or if
you you can wait for a gasket. I have done both ways. Wobble
extensions and/or a 12 mm universal joint deep sockets and some

The ML320 gave me a surprise Wed. - about two stop lights before my
destination, it started shaking at the red light. It was clearly missing on
one cylinder when I accelerated when the light changed. It did this all the
way to the destination (approx. half a mile). I plugged the OBD-II
I have a great deal on a garbage disposer - come and get it. Took one out
when we replaced the kitchen sink last month - free if you pick it up.

Today I just put an Alpine CDE-100 in the Chicken Wagon.
Hopefully that will eliminate the nasty noise that was
