Yep, it sucks and I would think it would be hard on the starter, battery, and
engine. I guess if it gets the fuel economy up by half a gallon that is all
that matters.

Why would stop start function save fuel on a diesel? My understanding is
that a diesel uses almost no fuel at idle.
Does not sound like a good idea for diesel.
