I spent last night at the Fab Lab at the local high skrool. I found
out there are 1000 fab labs across the planet, and that the concept
started at MIT. MIT shed it off as Fab Lab Foundation who now
coordinate the advancement of the concept.
3 cheers for MIT! I plan to spend a lot of time there in their public
access hours. 4 small plastic 3D printers, and one large. One small
and one large laser engravers, 4x8' router cutter, 4x8' plasma cutter, etc.
While we often mutter about the alma mutter, particularly the
fundraising calls to alumni, it is great to see an institution of
"higher learning" actually doing something positive.
