The AT I bought from Rusty approx 2.5 years ago (~30K Mi) started having
problems with 1st gear engaging. Sun Valley (the rebuilder) said I may
have a sticky valve and suggested a can of ATF Prolong. I added a can
and after approx a month it started working again normally. I also

The modulator is designed so that the shift time can be adjusted, if
yours has not been messed with it should not need adjusting. Pretty sure
if the modulator is broken it reverts to harsh, neck breaking shifts but
it's been a while since I looked up info on the 722.3/4 boxes.
