While setting the valves last evening on my '83 300SD, I looked at the timing
chain stretch. If I guess correctly, all you do is line up the marks on the
camshaft washer and tower, then read the meter behind the crank shaft pully.
Are the numbers marked on there direct readings of the degree

make sure.
