If you're into petroglyphs, there's a bunch in an area run by the national
parks service just outside albuquerque to the northwest.
Alamogordo is likely a bit out of his way.

If you do get in that general area, you probably want to see the White Sands
Monument, the Space Hall of Fame, and Maybe Cloudcroft.

Cadillac Ranch is an "attraction" alongside the road outside of
Amarillo, you can park there alongside the road and walk over to see a
bunch of old Caddies stuck in the ground rear ends in the air. There is
also some restaurant there that serves 72 oz steaks, if you eat it all
its free.

sounds good

Cadillac Ranch is just outside Amarillo, TX to the west. If it's day time,
it's hard to miss. The steak house is also hard to miss when in Amarillo.

You can visit the oldest house in the US, an old church that's pretty,
lots of people selling crafts, etc. in the old section of Santa Fe -
it's my wife's favorite place to visit.

Ride the cable car to the top of the mountian in Albuquerue --- it's
cool up there, we enjoyed it. Eat in "Old Town", then find the good
resturants from the locals.
