I think I would agree. Given the reasonable cost of elements, I think I would put 2 new ones in. Then you should be good for a while.  No sense working on it again soon. I don't know that I would bother changing thermostats if they appear to be functioning properly. If the pressure relief valv

So it looks like drain the tank again and pull the lower element and clean or replace it. They sell kits for around $30 with two elements, two gaskets, and two thermostats. Or new elements are $5 (silver colored) $10 (copper) $20 (folded large surface copper) and $50 (titanium). I think I'll g

Looking at thermostats online, it looks like they have cheapened them and the removable pin is no longer there. The pointer just bumps up against the plastic housing now. No quality anymore. Just junk. Randy On 20/12/2019 10:33 AM, Jim Cathey via Mercedes wrote: There are two thermostats. Up

Electric tanks normally last better than that in my experience. Is it leaking somewhere? That might account for the high pitched squeal. I think I would look first at the pressure relief valve. That might be the source of the sound if it is leaking slightly. If the tank is really hot that is sup

[MBZ] OT: Electric water heater screaming at me

2019-12-20 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes
Last night I heard a loud noise from the water heater, a continuous high pitch squeal. Pulled the disconnect and it went away. Hmm, it's not time to flush it but I'll do that. Flushed it out, turned it back on and 90 minutes later it's squealing again. Turn a faucet to relieve the pressure, and
