That fits my memory perfectly. It [Tilley] was always lit outside the tent,
and brought inside once it was behaving itself. The hot stuff would be
left outside on the ground, too.
It hasn't been used, to my knowledge, since dad bought the beach
cabin
Clamp on alcohol soaked dingus, kerosene would be sooty/smokey and nasty. New
ones are available, have to be imported from the UK. I'm sure you could make
one with some fiberglass tiki torch wick.

Apparently I've inherited dad's old Tilley heater. I'm not sure
the starting supplies, a clamp-on kerosene-soaked dingus
and a chimney, are still with it.
