Finally, I used Firefox about:config, searched for and deleted every instance
of recaptcha.net, and I'm no longer getting max speed upload calls to
compute.amazonaws.com
So it was indeed ReCaptcha which acted like it was trying
Problem went away when I banned scripts from amazonaws.com and disallowed
everything I'd whitelisted in NoScript.
Then a web page that used ReCaptcha (spelling?) forced me to allow scripts from
ReCaptcha. And when I allowed scripts from the most popular human verifying
system on the planet, F
AWS could be just about anything since almost anybody can use them as a host.
I agree that it sounds like Malware...
