Grndson's work place is near G'town (Afghan Embassy) - 24th and Wyoming.

Bikes aren't allowed on metro during "peak commute hours" UNLESS they fold.
Theres also capital bikeshare...
But I see lots of peeps bringing folders on the MARC train, and a few on the

Andrew lives in DC. Maybe he has a spare bedroom for the summer? And a
parking spot?
Must love cats.

BTW, should he take his car ('85 BMW 318i) to DC? I'm thinking probably not.

Only if he hates the car. no parking, expensive to rent parking.
Check the theft stats for BMWs in DC. Probably high theft rate. if
he finds a place to park it, it will likely be bashed or vandalized.

Probably depends on where he lives. Grandson had such a convenient route on
public transportation in DC, he left his truck in Florida. Then, after he
had worked and lived a while in NYC where he got a better job, he sold the
truck since parking was such a problem and because he lived close to

Congrats, sounds like he's off to a terrific start. He should keep very good
notes of all theses travels and people - will come in handy if/when the time
comes to apply for a security clearance.
I'd keep the car myself, but I'm curious to know what the list folk that live
in WDC say.

Why wouldn't he take the car to DC?
When you can't ride a bike or take mass transit he'd be bumming rides.

Save the car, get a 21 speed.
It has been said a pedal bike can get across DC quicker than a car can.
They also take up less storage space than the car. ;)
