The IA - A&P on the other end of the runway from me has a Cessna 172 in his
shop now that was reported to sound like a turbine by the FBO he last
departed from. Turned out to be an intake leak on one cylinder where the
manifold tube meets the cylinder head. The gasket is vibrating like a reed
in a
show at
base Sat, Sun, but it stayed clear of the base; appeared to be flying in and
out of civ airport coupla miles away.

There are both 206 and 185 turboprops. My guess is that it is one of the two.

I've read recently that Cessna is revamping it's engine selection to
something completely new. The engine design currently used is all based on
engines which were certified back in about 1930, and the world of fuels and
engines has changed a lot in the 80 + years since then. One report I looked

Small aircraft that looks like a Cessna 172 or 182 has made several passes low
over the house this afternoon; possibly doing approaches and touch-and-go
landings at airport coupla miles away. The engine sounds like a turboprop, but
the nose does not appear to be extended like other turboprop mo
