I wonder why we think that drilling in our backyards to going to make
a difference in oil costs. We import crude, refine it, then export it.
The crude comes from everywhere (most of it from Canada - I thought
they at least don't hate us, if they don't like us). We still export a
significant portion of the Diesel we make (don't remember the number,
40 or 60% ? ). If we produce more crude, the final product will still
be sold to the highest bidder. With the international oil and refined
products market, there's NO reason to think it would stay here. If you
want that guaranty, you'll have to nationalize the oil companies. I
don't think anyone would be happy about that!
