If you're willing to peel open the wall, go up _inside_ the garage wall?

No, don't see any easy way to run a duct inside the ceiling other than out into
the garage, but maybe I could go through the ceiling over the garage to the
outside wall. The issue there is that would be the front of the house, so
aesthetically that would be a challenge.

Can you run the pipe from the first floor through the closet on the 2nd
floor?

I don't think that will meet fire code -- garage walls are usually
thicker sheetrock and a fire door, you put a penetration in there and if
a car catches fire or something, you have a problem

Yeah, it occurred to me that you also might have the possibility of getting
smells from the garage into the bathroom, too.
Hmm.

It might be a code violation to have any kind of vent passage between
garage and living space. My parent's house had heat/air vents in the
garage but someone told me that is no longer permitted on new
construction.

If it’s just a half bath I can’t see an issue with it venting into the garage.
It’s not like the air would have a lot of moisture as if it was a bath with a
tub or shower. Only smells.
I presume the garage does not get conditioned air? Again, this shouldn’t be an
issue as far as I could
I've got a downstairs half-bath (toilet and a sink) right off the kitchen,
and the vent fan is a ductless that simply recirculates the air through a
charcoal filter.
I'd really like to make this a vented fan, but there are no exterior walls
nearby, but it would be relatively easy to vent into my
