If this were true France - which is 71.6% nuclear - would have free
electricity, or at worst selling at a 71% discount. ;

Had nuclear energy been done correctly, it would've been. It's never going to
happen in this country. We are probably heading into another "dark ages" or at
least another end of "The Bronze Age".

Haha yeah we’d go riding around in my buddy’s car on Friday nights and before
he took the car home we’d all kick in a quarter or two to go fill up so his dad
wouldn’t be pissed the next morning

I remember Dad coming home from work and telling that there was a gas price
war down the street, go fill my car - a 1951 bug. I only had $0.50 on me,
and the car would not hold that much gas! I think it was around 0.10/gal
and my tank was about half full (no gas gauge in 1951).

I remember a stretch of traffic lights breaking up the interstate on the
way to Boston from NYC where there was always a running competition to sell
the cheapest gas. 22 cents/gallon comes to mind. This was in the mid 60s.

I recall the spinny wheel pumps. I also recall nobody ever thought gas
would be more than 99.9, so you had to multiply by two...

when I started driving Gulftane (panther piss) was 14.9. I remember the
crank pumps & sight glass but not with little balls in it.

Batteries took more water back then but I don't think I'd want somebody

Tokheim pumps were made in my old home town Ft Wayne at a factory across from
the airport. That guy invented the “automatic” pump. I think it might still be
there.

If you look at this old Texaco pump you can see the sight glass at the top
right, just above and to the left of the nozzle.

They could have little “vanes” in them that turned as the gasoline went
through, or 2-3 small

Remember the gas pumps that had the sight glass with the little colored balls
that rolled around when the gas was pumping? Or am I dating myself?
