Regarding the trim strip not fitting flush on my new RF fender with new female 
plastic trim strip inserts, I figured out what the problem was.  The new (gray) 
female plastic trim strip inserts have a somewhat larger spacing where the 
insert grabs the fender wall than the original (red/orange) female plastic trim 
strip inserts thus allowing the trim strip to pull the female plastic trim 
strip insert out from the fender wall slightly (pix attached).  Forgive the 
lousy pix, as I got too close but I believe one can get the idea from the pix.
