Yeah I'm not even sure what might be wrong with the transmission or if
that is an accurate diagnosis. I'll put the computer on it and do a
quick scan, see what codes are popping up. For the money though there
is a fair amount of headroom to work on it or replace stuff. I'm
guessing it is

Sure, it could be if it's been abused, overheated, way behind on oil changes,
etc. but if given normal care I would think it's still got a good deal of life
in it. 169k isn't really that much on a modern engine with modern oils.
