Could be a flex disk maybe. I am betting the output flange or the back plate of
the trans could be swapped out just like on a 722.3

The hook is that the variant of the 722 transmission that works with the 4Matic
transfer case is unique to that drive train. You can’t just slap a regular 2WD
722 and have it work - the output shaft of the transmission is totally
different as it’s been explained to me.
Since the seller doesn’t

Offer a few $100, haul it off, take off the wheels then offer it on CL
for whatever you paid, engine, etc.
You need to rent some space to do this stuff!

Doubt it. Based on my knowledge of the 722.6/9 it’s probably the center shaft,
which has a bearing that can fail and allow the shaft to rattle around inside,
doing a pretty significant amount of damage.
I’ve got a buddy on the west coast who knows these boxes inside and out, so
I’ve asked him

A good chance it’s something simple. The 722.6 is a very robust tranny.

The 4Matic version of the 722.6 is unique in the output shaft area. If he
tranny is indeed toast, there’s no reason to pursue it, as they are hard to
come by.

It looks better than the E$500 dizzel. The wheels are nicer than the sorta
spoked ones on the dizzel.
Get it for $500, fix or replace tranny, flip it. I bet replacing that tranny is
a puta of a job though.

I’m just wondering if it’s just a conductor plate issue. That’s a couple of
hours and a couple hundred bucks.
I want the wheels.

Is the tranny different on the AWD cars from the 2WD? Probably different
housing or something? How much would a used tranny be? There must be a bunch
around.
