The torsen is great!  In most conditions, it will actually
outperform a locked differential.

Torsen AND four-whee-drive is king!  Adding a torsen is a lot
easier and cheaper than adding the front drive train, so for an
existing car, a torsen differential is a great upgrade.

The ones's I've done it's shims and the crush washer.  I did my
first one without any experience. *smiles*  Having an experienced
hand to help is a good idea, but not required.  In my opinion.

The "damage" is a noisy differential, I believe.  And once is
broken in, I don't think it's a good idea to change it - but I'm
not remembering for sure.
